Sue’s story:

 

Mine is probably a fairly typical story – I’m 47 years old and have a demanding desk-based job.  With two school age children and a busy life, I have prioritised everyone and everything else above my physical fitness.  As a result, my fitness hit rock bottom and my weight sky rocketed, and my mental well being was shaky at best.  In February 2021 I finally admitted to myself that if I hadn’t managed to take control of my physical health on my own after 47 years, I was probably never going to – it was about time I invested time and money in myself or things would continue to get worse and I would continue to limit my current life, and probably shorten my future life.

 

Armed with this new (and can I say hugely liberating) revelation, I set about looking for a personal trainer to work with.  I have always found personal trainers (and gyms and fitness in general) massively intimidating as I’ve never been part of the ‘sporty crowd’, so I needed a trainer who would be able to help me feel confident and empowered, and who would be able to create a programme for me that understood and fit in with my lifestyle and my inner demons.

 

Tina has been able to do just that – she took time at the start to understand me, my goals, my worries, and of course all elements of my physical health.  The sessions that we have together have been challenging but appropriate to my current physical state – she knows when and how to push me so that I come away from every session feeling an amazing sense of achievement.  Her advice and guidance on my diet & nutrition has also been invaluable – she even went the extra mile of talking to my husband (as he does the cooking in our house), to make sure he understood what I would be changing and why.

 

Tina adapts each of our sessions and pushes me in a way that is engaging and empowering, always appropriate and always taking account of where I am on my journey.  She has a reassuring focus on technique, and her knowledge in this area is clear.  She is improving my understanding of how to work out on my own in between our sessions, and her openness and honesty with me is ensuring that I feel confident that she is focussed on a tailored programme for my needs, not just rolling out a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

 

I’m now in my seventh week of working with Tina and have already seen better results than I was expecting – above all, I’m feeling happier and in control of my health and physical fitness for the first time in my life.  I can honestly say that choosing to work with Tina has been one of the best decisions of my (hopefully longer and better quality!) life.
